High Blood Pressure Treatment
In 1998,
the American journal of
hypertension published
“Objectives of high blood
pressure treatment: left
ventricular hypertrophy,
diastolic function, and
coronary reserve”. The
authors of the paper were
from the Department of
Medicine, University of
Dusseldorf, Germany. This
article has been cited
twelve times since its
publication.
The Hill-Bone Compliance to High Blood Pressure Therapy Scale assesses patient behaviors for three important behavioural domains of high blood pressure treatment. The first is reduced sodium intake, the second is appointment keeping and the third is medication taking. Several doctors worked on the paper “Development and Testing of the Hill-Bone Compliance to High Blood Pressure Therapy Scale” and it was published in 2000. This paper on high blood pressure treatment has been cited ten times since its publication. In 1986, “The relationships between alcoholic beverage use and other traits to blood pressure: a new Kaiser Permanente study” was published. This new study was controlled for many factors; the authors of the paper reconfirmed the relationship of high blood pressure treatment to alcohol use. The relationship was slightly stronger in men, whites, and people 55 years of age or older. This 1986 study reported a slight increase in blood pressure in men who drank one to two drinks daily, and a continuous increase occurring at all higher drinking levels among white men who had constant drinking habits. Among women, an increase occurred only at three or more drinks daily. High blood pressure treatment of alcohol cessation was recommended because the data suggested complete regression, beginning within days, of alcohol-associated hypertension upon abstinence. In a 2004 paper entitled “High Blood Pressure Treatment and Control in Five European Countries, Canada, and the United States” was published in the journal called Hypertension. In this study, levels of high blood pressure treatment and control have been noted to vary between Europe and North America. In this study, the authors sought to estimate the relative impact of high blood pressure treatment strategies because direct comparisons with similar methods have not been undertaken. The study concentrated on Germany, Sweden, England, Spain, Italy, Canada, and the United States by using sample surveys conducted in the 1990’s. |
