I have
been asked by a lot of
people why I chose slate
flooring for my new home
construction. I chose new slate
flooring for a lot of
different reason.
Slate flooring is easier to
maintain than other natural
stone surfaces. I learned
while doing research about
slate flooring that over the
years craftsmen have been
using slate for high traffic
areas and also so exterior
walls.
Slate flooring does not
stain. I like this because I
have kids and they always
seem to be spilling things.
Slate flooring is also
non-slip and non-porous. I
like that a lot. I had a
slippery floor when I was in
college and almost broke my
neck several times.
I don’t have a lot of time
designated for cleaning my
house. I love that my new
slate flooring is super easy
to clean. I didn’t even have
to have a sealer applied to
my slate flooring and it
looks great.
I think that my slate
flooring may outlast my
house! I read that slate
flooring can last for
hundreds of years. Maybe my
great-great-grandchildren
will play on this slate
flooring. I thought about
using slate in the walls of
my kitchen because it is
fireproof. I ultimately was
talked out of slate walls.
I chose different colors of
slate flooring depending on
the room. I chose a
fantastic red for my kitchen
and greens in the bathrooms.
The patterns I chose for
each room for the slate
flooring was different as
well.
I think that the slate
flooring in my kitchen makes
it feel warm and elegant. I
just love this slate
flooring! It is so much
better than other floors
I’ve had in my life. This
was the best decision that I
made in regards to the
house.
Another great thing about
new slate flooring is that it
offers outstanding
insulation from both heat
and cold. It gets really
cold here in the winter and
I can’t wait to see how my
slate flooring feels to my
bare feet in January.
