Washers, Dryers, and Bachelors

Bachelors are often accused of being slobs. We often think of clothing strewn about their apartment or shared living spaces.

Today’s appliances can do so much to ease the time and effort that it takes to wash and dry clothes. Think about what our grandmothers went through! We certainly have it much better than they did. With today’s money saving and energy saving machines, you’d think we’d all stop complaining. Even still, laundry is one of those chores you have to do but really never want to.

Buying a washer and dryer can certainly be an overwhelming experience with so many models to choose from. Think about your needs as a bachelor, the kind of laundry you do, the kinds of clothes wear when trying to decide on the model that is best for you. Ask yourself what you wash, and how often you wash it. There’s no point buying an expensive machine with all the bells and whistles if you wash delicates more than anything else. Features like internal water heaters, additional rinse cycles, stainless steel drums, automatic water level sensors, multiple washing cycles, and energy star efficiency ratings can really make it difficult to know which model to purchase.

You can be sure that, the more options your machine has, the more expensive it will be. When it comes to major appliances, expense is relative. For example, if you do five loads of wash a day, it would be more expensive if you did NOT buy the model with lots of options, since those options are designed to regulate energy usage and overall expenditure. A simple 2-dual washer just wouldn’t work for you and would not be a smart buy. If you live alone, you would be making a poor decision from the standpoint of money and energy if you bought a fully loaded machine. Many bachelors find that going to the laundromat is their best option.

No matter what you decide to purchase, or if you simply go to your local laundromat, everyone can agree that washers and dryers are certainly on of the major conveniences of life as we know it, and can take a mountain of dirty laundry and quickly reduce it to just a few hour’s worth of light housework. That’s good news for today’s busy families, who have hectic lifestyles and not a lot of time for concentrating on housework-related tasks.
